Algarve or Silver Coast

The Algarve has always been a favourite with foreign investors with its sunshine and home from home feel with many expats living there all year round. The area is serviced by Faro Airport which has flights through the winter which trebles in the summer as major tour operators bring clients to fill the hotels. Directly on the Atlantic Coast it has always been a favourite with surfers and hosts many a world surf event. There are also small coves such as Sao Martinho Do Porto or Pria Branca but is very rare that you would ever be sat on a crowded beach.

The area is serviced by Lisbon International airport in the South with Porto Airport to the North. You will find that there are scheduled flights and low cost air carriers which operate throughout the year. This is where you will be able to experience the true Portugal with the sound of Fado filling the streets from the local bars at night and it is possible to find restaurants serving Menu del Dia a three course meal from as little as five euros or coffee and cake for under two euros.

Culture abounds in this area with Coimbra the old capital of Portugal, Fatima, Obidos and several National Parks. You will never be a loss of how to fill your days. The area is only just beginning to be discovered by discerning people looking for something different.

The climate on the Silver Coast is very different to that of the Algarve, here you will experience the seasons with temperatures reaching 32 degrees in the summer months. The soil is ideal for growing pine and eucalyptus which’s aroma carries with the breeze. The scenery has a multitude of different coloured greens which cover the landscape from the hillsides down to the shoreline.
